Qalbur respects the privacy of its readers. This policy explains, in plain terms, which personal data are processed when you read Qalbur or contact the publication, why they are processed, who processes them and what rights you have.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for processing personal data on this website under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Andy Demir
Sommerberg 7
88090 Immenstaad am Bodensee
Germany
Email: andy@qalbur.com
Website: https://www.qalbur.com/
Further legal information is available in the Impressum.
2. Overview
Qalbur is a non-commercial publication. It has no user accounts, no comment section, no newsletter and no embedded videos or social media posts. Personal data are processed in four situations only: when the website is delivered to your browser by Google's Blogger platform; when you consent to Google Analytics; when fonts are loaded to display the site; and when you contact Qalbur by email or through the contact form. Qalbur does not sell personal data or share them for marketing.
3. Hosting on Blogger
Qalbur is published on Blogger, a service provided for users in Europe by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google").
When you visit Qalbur, Google processes the technical data needed to deliver the website to your device, including your IP address, browser and device information, the date and time of access, the pages requested and the referring website. Google also uses this information to keep the service secure, prevent misuse and produce basic page-view statistics for the site owner.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is the secure, reliable and technically functional delivery of the website. Further information is available in Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies and consent
Cookies and similar technologies store or read information on your device. Under § 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG), this is permitted without consent only where it is strictly necessary to provide the service you have requested. All other cookies, including analytics cookies, are used only after you have given your consent through the cookie banner displayed on your first visit.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings.
5. Google Analytics
If you consent, Qalbur uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited. Google Analytics uses cookies to understand how readers use the site, for example which articles are read, how long visits last, which pages lead readers to Qalbur, and the approximate region, device type and browser used. This helps Qalbur understand which subjects readers find useful.
Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. Qalbur does not use Google Analytics for advertising, and it does not combine analytics data with any other information about you. Analytics data are retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically.
The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG. Google Analytics is not activated unless you consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time as described in section 4.
6. Google Fonts
To display text consistently, the website's design loads fonts from Google Fonts, a service of Google Ireland Limited. When a page is loaded, your browser connects to Google's servers and transmits your IP address. Qalbur has a legitimate interest in the uniform and legible presentation of its content, so the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Further information is available in Google's Privacy Policy.
7. Share buttons and external links
Articles include share buttons that let you pass a link to a social network. These are simple links: no data are sent to the social network unless you click one. Once you do, the relevant platform's own privacy policy applies.
Qalbur also links to external sources and websites. Qalbur has no control over the privacy practices of those websites, and their own policies apply once you leave Qalbur.
8. Contact by email or contact form
If you write to Qalbur by email or through the contact form, your name, email address, message and any other information you choose to provide, such as your organisation or an article link, are processed in order to read and respond to your message.
Messages sent through the contact form are transmitted to andy@qalbur.com by FormSubmit, a form-forwarding service based outside the European Union. FormSubmit processes the content of the form solely in order to deliver it. Further information is available in FormSubmit's privacy policy. If you prefer that your message is not handled by a form service, please write directly to andy@qalbur.com.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your message relates to a request you want answered, and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for other correspondence, where the legitimate interest is handling editorial and professional enquiries. Your name, email address and message are needed to reply to you. All other fields are optional. Please do not send sensitive personal data unless it is genuinely necessary.
9. Editorial correspondence and source material
Readers and contributors sometimes send corrections, research, documents or other source material. Such material is used only for the purpose for which it was sent, including to verify, research or correct editorial content. Submitting material does not guarantee publication or citation. If material is confidential, please agree this with Qalbur before sending it.
10. International data transfers
Google may transfer personal data to Google LLC in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision under Art. 45 GDPR. FormSubmit processes contact-form messages outside the European Economic Area. That transfer takes place in order to handle the request you send through the form.
11. Data retention
Personal data are kept only for as long as needed for the purpose for which they were collected. Emails and contact-form messages are deleted once the matter is concluded and no further correspondence is expected, normally within twelve months. They are kept longer only where they document a correction, a question of rights or attribution, or a dispute, and only for as long as that purpose requires. Analytics data are deleted after 14 months, as described in section 5.
12. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access the personal data held about you (Art. 15), to have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16), to have data erased (Art. 17), to restrict processing (Art. 18), to receive your data in a portable format where applicable (Art. 20), and to withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). To exercise any of these rights, please write to andy@qalbur.com.
13. Right to object
Where personal data are processed on the basis of legitimate interests under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right under Art. 21 GDPR to object to that processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. Qalbur will then no longer process the data unless there are compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. To object, write to andy@qalbur.com.
14. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to complain to a data-protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for Qalbur is the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg (www.baden-wuerttemberg.datenschutz.de). You may also contact the authority in the EU country where you live or work.
15. No automated decision-making
Qalbur does not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
16. Security
Qalbur is delivered over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal data. No internet transmission or online storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
17. Children
Qalbur is a professional publication for executives and senior managers and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
18. Changes to this policy
This policy is updated whenever the website, the services it uses or the legal requirements change. The current version is always published on this page with the date of its latest revision.
